Another First for Junction TV : Delivers first VoD service in South America for Itacom

August 23, 2011

Junction TV has licensed its platform to Itacom to roll out the first OTT VoD service in South America.

With this launch, Junction TV becomes the only solution provider to have cloud-based as well as on-premises deployment of its platform.

To enable this launch, Junction TV deployed its Content Management System (CMS), Entitlement Management System (EMS) and its Analytics Systems in Itacom premises. Additionally, Junction TV built a Content Delivery Network (CDN) – complete with load balancing and failover capabilities and deployed it in the Itacom data center.

Mike Shehan, Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Junction TV, explains that a custom Roku app serves as the front-end for the Video-on-Demand service. The app supports both Subscription Video-on-Demand (SVoD) and TVoD with the EMS providing the back-end control functionality. This app also implements several innovative features like parental control not just at content viewing level but also for content browsing.
